Health and Safety (H&S)

GSC offers its members a specialized service for creating or simply updating your prevention program. The service is available in all our branches: Laval, Brossard, Quebec City and Gatineau, or in virtual mode, whichever suits you best.

What is OHS?

Occupational health and safety (OHS) covers all measures, practices, laws and regulations designed to :

  • Protect workers' health (prevention of occupational illness).
  • Ensure safety (accident risk reduction and management).
  • Promoting well-being in the workplace.

In practice, this includes :

  • Identifying and managing risks on construction sites.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Prevention training.
  • Workplace accident investigations.
Legal obligations of employers and workers.

Objective: to prevent work-related accidents and illnesses and ensure a safe and healthy environment for all.

Who's concerned?

Workers - follow rules, use PPE, report hazards.

Employers and contractors - implement preventive measures, provide training and PPE, ensure site safety.

Foremen and supervisors - supervise teams, identify and correct hazards, apply procedures.

OHS representatives (committees, worker representatives) - participate in prevention, represent workers, collaborate with the employer.

Sector associations and regulatory bodies (e.g. CNESST) - supervise, monitor and support the application of laws and regulations.

In short, OHS is a shared responsibility that helps prevent accidents, protect health and ensure the smooth running of worksites.
