SPECIALISED CONTRACTOR
What is the process for obtaining an RBQ license?
GSC supports you every step of the way, from understanding the RBQ exams to preparing for and passing them, in order to simplify the process and avoid mistakes.
Here is the process for obtaining a license from the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ). It is important to note that Groupe GSC will assist you at each of these stages.
- Determine whether an RBQ license is required
You must check whether the construction or renovation work you wish to carry out or bid on requires an RBQ license. Certain exceptions exist, particularly for very limited work or in specific situations. - Choosing the legal form of your business
You must determine whether you will operate asa sole proprietorship, a legal entity (company), or a corporation, depending on your situation. - Register your business
If you are starting a business, you must register it with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec (REQ) to obtain a Quebec business number (NEQ). - Determine the RBQ license subcategory or subcategories
The RBQ license is divided into categories and subcategories according to the types of work you wish to perform or bid on (e.g., general contractor for all types of work, specialized contractor). - Check criminal and tax records
The RBQ requires that company executives, directors, and lenders have no recent criminal or tax offenses on their record. - Complete and submit the RBQ license application
You must complete the appropriate application form for your situation and submit it to the RBQ with all the required documents (company, surety bond, supporting documents). - Become professionally qualified
You must demonstrate your professional skills by passing the required RBQ exams or by completing a training program recognized by the RBQ. - Review of the application by the RBQ and issuance of the license
Once your application is complete and compliant, the RBQ will conduct a final review and issue the license.
As a member of the GSC Group, each step of the RBQ licensing process is simplified and supervised by experts, allowing you to move forward efficiently, without errors or unnecessary delays.
