Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the principles of thermodynamics, the operation, and the components of various refrigeration systems (air conditioning, industrial processes, cold storage rooms, heat pumps);
- Strictly enforce the legal and regulatory framework, including the Building Code, CSA Standard B52, and regulations governing halocarbons and pressure vessels;
- Accurately interpret plans and specifications to assess requirements, calculate heat loads, and prepare a comprehensive estimate for the work;
- Plan and manage the installation of systems, from the safe handling of refrigerants to welding techniques and the connection of components;
- Ensure the commissioning, performance testing, maintenance, and proper recovery of refrigerants, including ammonia systems;
- Ensure health and safety on the job site by identifying and managing risks associated with high pressure, hazardous materials (WHMIS), and job-specific tasks.
