2.4 - Autonomous sewage systems contractor

Subcategory 2.4 is a specialized contractor licence that authorizes construction work involving on-site wastewater treatment systems, that is, the treatment of wastewater from buildings. This work is permitted provided it is not reserved exclusively for master pipe mechanics.

To act as guarantor for Execution of construction work (ETC) for this specialty, you must pass a multiple-choice theory exam designed by the RBQ. This assessment exam lasts a maximum of 3 hours and the required passing grade is 60 %. (Note: as for any contractor, the core exams in administration, safety management and project management must also be passed.)

The exam specific to subcategory 2.4 is based on a highly technical competency profile focused on wastewater disposal. You will be assessed on your ability to:

• Understand the process of selecting a system (soil characterization, assessment of hydraulic capacity).
• Read and interpret plans and specifications related to sanitary installations.
• Properly install the various components: septic tanks, pumping stations, treatment units and sand filters.
• Use a level accurately to ensure proper gravity flow.
