In Quebec, a construction contractor must hold a licence issued by the Régie du Bâtiment du Québec (R.B.Q.) to carry on any type of construction work, and yes, it includes residential renovations.

The fines applicable for working without a licence were recently substantially increased. Fines are the tool of choice used by authorities to discourage such actions.

– As an example, anyone who does not respect the Law and carry on construction work without a licence, is liable to a fine of 10 000$ up to 75 000$ in case of an individual, and of 30 000$ up to 150 000$ for a legal entity.

– Most of these laws are in force since the 9th of December 2011.

Gestion Solution Construction has been helping contractors get their R.B.Q. licence for many years, so they can legally work, with a full peace of mind.
